These terms apply to work carried out by SG Arboricultural Consulting (ABN 42 600 362 402) unless a written engagement says otherwise.
Quotes and fees
Fees are quoted in writing before work starts and are fixed for the scope quoted. Where the scope changes, for example the tree count is different on site or the design is revised, I will quote the variation before doing it rather than adding it to the invoice. Published fees exclude GST.
Scope of a report
A report addresses the trees, the site and the proposal described in it, at the date of inspection. It is prepared for the client named in it and for the purpose stated in it. Reliance by another party, or use for a different purpose, is not authorised without my agreement.
Basis of assessment
Unless stated otherwise, assessment is by visual inspection from the ground, in accordance with AS 4970:2025 and AS 4373 where those apply. Visual assessment does not detect every internal defect. Where a tree warrants it I will recommend further investigation rather than assume.
Currency
A tree is a living thing and its condition changes. Findings are current at the date of inspection. Storms, drought, works and time can all change the position, and a report more than twelve months old should be treated with caution.
What I do not do
This is a consulting practice. I do not prune, remove, climb or carry out physical tree works, and I have no commercial interest in any works recommended. Where works are required you engage a contractor directly.
Council outcomes
A report supports an application. It does not guarantee one. Councils and tribunals decide applications on their own criteria, and a well founded report can still meet a refusal. Where council raises a question about my report, answering it is included.
Insurance
Professional indemnity insurance of $2,000,000 is maintained for consulting activities. A certificate of currency is available on request.
Payment
Invoices are payable within 14 days unless agreed otherwise. Reports are released on payment unless other arrangements are in place.

Copyright in reports, plans and photographs remains with SG Arboricultural Consulting. You are licensed to use and lodge them for the purpose they were prepared for.
